ABOUT TOM
Tom Quash is the Chief Communications and Marketing Officer at the American Dental Education Association in Washington, DC, overseeing the organization’s marketing, communications, and branding. Prior to his current role, Tom served as the Chief Marketing & Program Officer at Compassion & Choices, the oldest and largest nonprofit dedicated to end-of-life care. Tom has held a host of senior-level marketing positions at nonprofits in the Washington metro area, including the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses, Women in Cable Telecommunications, and ASAE, the American Society of Association Executives. Tom began his marketing career working in the children’s book publishing industry in New York, at Macmillan Publishing, Simon & Schuster, and Disney Press.
As a volunteer leader, Tom served as Chair of four association volunteer groups, was board chair of a Maryland-based nonprofit, the Metropolitan Center for Assault Prevention and authored the marketing and communications chapter in the book Professional Practices in Association Management.
Tom received his bachelor’s degree in journalism from Howard University and earned his Certified Association Executive (CAE) credential in 2010. In 2015 he received ASAE’s Professional Performance Award, the association industry’s highest honor awarded to a non-CEO. A native New Yorker, Tom currently resides in Virginia with his wife, two sons and their labradoodle Boston.
